Hi Friends! So, as Valentine’s Day is one of my very favorite days, I thought I would share with you one of my favorite traditions. My mom loves all things Victorian (in fact we even live in a reproduction Victorian farmhouse) so, store bought valentines were never an option, lol! We love to make our valentines from scratch, and as fancy and old fashioned as possible. We start off by going to my very favorite store… Michaels! We wander the aisles looking for all things vintage. Pearls, fringe, buttons, paper flowers, butterflies, doilies… and we throw them in our cart. (Remember to go on a day that they have 20% off of everything INCLUDING sale items!)
Some of the best vintage looking brands are Recollections, Celebrate It, and K&C Company.
I also always buy a fresh photo box while I am there to bring to school for the valentines exchange. I picked a pink one with roses on it.
My theme this year was blush pink and mint, two of my favorite colors.
I love the pink velvet ribbon we found this year!
Of course doilies are a must for any old fashioned valentine. You can cut out the shapes in the doily to make smaller doilies! I use them a lot to fancy up my valentines.
I’m making 40 valentines this year for family and friends so it is a couple day process, but I adore all things crafty so I’ve kinda been in Valentine’s Day heaven the last few days. Thank goodness for that snow storm!
And did I mention that it is a huge mess?!? But the prettiest type of mess you can have, so it’s OK 😉
Here are some of the final product! I’m so happy with the way they are turning out this year. I always search on Google and look at real Victorian valentines to see the actual quotes that they used. This is the one I am using this year, “‘Tis pleasant to think of hearts kind and true, and that is why I’m thinking of you.” Happy Valentine’s Day! Love, Mk

This is so sweet! Wonderful job! I love roses, vintage and your creativity. The message is so sweet too. I’ll try to make this for my kids (Sophie, and Tommy, her brother). xo
